Inflatable fun!

Alex and I went to our church weekend away last weekend and on Saturday afternoon there was free time in which some inflatable games were on offer including Sumo suits
and Pugil sticks. Talk about a hoot!  Alex absolutely loved it (and was the youngest to give it a go) which gave me a great excuse to get involved and have fun too.
Sadly I didn't get a photo of our vicar being knocked off the podium so you will have settle for one of Alex being knocked off instead - well I didn't really knock him, he had a tendency to jump!  This certainly made me smile this week so I am entering it into Annie's Friday smiles.  Have a great weekend everyone.

Cards (WOYWW)

Wednesday again! Where is the time going? This week my desk, which I am showing you as part of the wonderful blog hop that is WOYWW, is looking relatively empty as I tidied up a little after making the card you can see on there (my mother-in-laws birthday card). My trusty mug of tea is there almost empty now, having sustained me during the crafting session.
This week I have actually managed to make some cards for a change.  I made two of these for the Mothering Sunday cards for my Mum and my mother-in-law (sadly I only have a ‘Mothers Day’ stamp, so they will have to cope with the American version!).  I masked the oval and used distress inks to ink a sunset background, and then stamped a Crafty Inspirations stamp on top.
This birthday card was made by pressing a versa colour ink pad directly through a Tim Holtz stencil and then fixing the embellishments on top.
I have continued with my art journal as well for this week; this time the sermon was on ‘Discipleship is a call to make disciples’.  This was a challenging one to do, but I think I managed to distil the main elements of the sermon into it.  That is all from me for now.  Have a great week everyone.

A gappy smile!

My main smile for this week happened on Tuesday. Alex came back from a school trip to North Anston Butterfly house with a newly gappy grin as the first of his top teeth had finally come out after months of being wobbly. I asked Alex where his tooth was and he looked at me with a lopsided smile and said ‘in the meercat enclosure at the butterfly place’.  I have to confess to howling with laughter as this is so typical Alex!
He then, despite telling me with utmost confidence that the tooth fairy wouldn’t mind and would see that he now had a gap in his teeth, decided to make her a card just in case.
This is the front cover
And this is the letter inside. I am linking this to Annie’s smiles and I hope it made you smile as much as it did me.  Have a lovely weekend.

Mess on desk! (WOYWW)

Well it is another Wednesday and time for another WOYWW.  Firstly I must apologise for not managing to visit everyone who visited me last week, due to illness. This week I hope to do better. As you can see my desk is in a bit of a mess while I try and plan out the next journal page. I haven't got very far with it...the rough sketch in the book is truly terrible so it is back to the drawing board (excuse the pun!).  On my desk you can see my journal, my mug of tea (nice and hot), and various bits of debris left over from both my last crafting session and Alex's!
The last piece of journaling I did was this page, based on a sermon on worship (in case you hadn't guessed!).  The page uses distress inks in the background, my drawing of notes and swirls, some gold peel offs, white and black acrylic paint, and some inkadinkado stamping round the edge. That is all from me for now.  Short and sweet this week as I am recovering from a bug and not feeling up to much.
I will finish with a happy Alex up a tree - who can but smile at that cheeky face! Have a nice week everyone.

Cat in the hat smile!

Well, it is Friday and time for Annie's Friday smiles!  I was missing last week as the week was rather busy, but am back again today with some belated World Book day images that made me smile.  Alex wanted to be the Cat in the hat (he has a thing about Dr Seuss at the moment)
And what a cheeky and fun Cat in the hat he made.
Last weekend we enjoyed the spring sunshine and went for an explore of the local hedgerows and parks looking at various signs of spring, enjoying a snack half-way up a tree!  That's all from me for now.  Have a nice weekend everyone.

Wednesday fun (WOYWW)

Well, here I am sneaking into the WOYWW list rather later in the day than normal, but as they say,
better late than never.  My desk is looking quite empty this week with some notes about Alex’s school trip, hiding the envelope containing information about the church weekend away, my journal with a blank page ready for planning, a pencil, post it notes and some stamps left over from the last journal page.  Even my trusty mug of tea is missing, although that is because it is currently being filled with tea by Tim.
This is my latest journal page, again based on one of the recent discipleship sermons, which was all about hospitality. This page was made using dylusions ink sprays for the background with some heart stamps using distress inks, then I drew the silhouettes on top and painted them with acrylic paint. The words are either from the Bible or phrases that stood out for me from the sermon.
Just to finish with I thought I would show you these gorgeous flowers which are everywhere in our neighbourhood as a reminder that Spring is on its way up in the north of the country (no daffodils for us yet though!).  I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

P.S. Last time I joined in with WOYWW I asked if anyone recognised the picture Alex had drawn - well you were right about the author as it was a Dr Seuss book, but not cat in the hat. It was Oh the places you will go.
